GMC Shop started in a flat above a Manchester chip shop with a small shipment of Android TV boxes and a promise: never sell anything we wouldn't put behind our own telly. Eight years on, we're the UK's most-reviewed independent streaming-hardware retailer.
Our story
In 2018, founder James Carter grew frustrated with the state of the UK streaming-box market: grey imports, no warranty support, and devices that broke after a single firmware update. He imported a single pallet of properly licensed Android TV units, tested every one in his living room, and started selling them on a Shopify store.
Today GMC stocks every major streaming platform — Google TV, Fire TV, Apple TV and Roku — alongside our own GMC-branded 4K HDR boxes, built to order in Shenzhen and fully supported from our warehouse in Trafford Park, Manchester. Every device ships with a UK 3-pin plug, a 12-month warranty, and free first-year tech support.
We're an independent, family-run business. No private equity, no outsourced call centre — when you ring us, someone in Manchester picks up.
